Program:

Students receive comprehensive training both in a classroom and clinical setting. PTA’s as they are often called, provide physical therapy treatments to patients under direction of and as assistants to a Physiotherapist. Work settings include hospitals, physiotherapy clinics, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, sports medicine clinics, community health care agencies and other medical settings. Their duties may require them to administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises and modality treatments.

Duration:

43 Weeks; 875 hours of instructor led theory and practice followed by 200 hours of clinical work placement in a Physiotherapy treatment environment.

Curriculum:

Students learn to apply relevant knowledge of health sciences, psycho-sociological sciences, and disabling conditions to promote movement, daily functioning, and activity. The curriculum provides individuals with an understanding of legislation, ethical and legal principles and confidentiality requirements for workplace situations to insure they have the skills necessary to act within legal, ethical and professional boundaries, including the maintenance of patient / client health records.
