1. Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)

Planning your education is an important life decision. How much will your program cost in time, money and effort? What kinds of financial assistance may be available? The objective of student financial assistance is to assist eligible students who do not have the resources to meet the costs of postsecondary education. The intention is to promote equality of opportunity for postsecondary studies by providing financial assistance for educational costs and basic living expenses where students (and their families) do not have the resources to meet these costs.

CanLearn:
The only online post-secondary education resource that provides Canadians with the information and services they need to decide what and where to study and how to cover the costs. The CanLearn site was developed by the Department of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada in collaboration with provincial and territorial governments and Canadian learning and career development organizations.

OSAP Access Window:
Provides the approximate costs of your postsecondary education, financial assistance available to help you pay for it, a repayment calculator for estimating monthly loan payments after graduation, and other information to make decisions about postsecondary education.

Canadian Federation of Students:
The Canadian Federation of Students was formed in 1981 to provide students with an effective and united voice, provincially and nationally. At the time, it was recognized that for students to be truly effective in representing their collective interests to the federal and provincial governments, it was vital to unite under one banner.

2. Employment Insurance or second careers

Employment Insurance is a social program that contributes to the security of all Canadians by providing assistance to workers who lose their jobs and helping unemployed people across the country to get back to work.

Second Careers:
Second Career provides laid-off workers with skills training to help them find jobs in high-demand occupations in Ontario and with financial support . Second Career is a cost-sharing grant provided on the basis of need, so you may be asked to contribute what you can to your training or education.

3. Government Grants

Ontario Student Opportunity Grant:
The Ontario Student Opportunity Grant is available to help students reduce their annual Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan.

Canadian Study Grant for Students with Dependants:
The Canada Study Grant for Students with Dependants assists full-time and part-time postsecondary students with dependants. An eligible dependant, by definition, is someone for whom you receive the Canada Child Tax Benefit or for whom you claim a deduction on your federal tax return.

4. Bursaries

Child-Care Bursary:
This non-repayable bursary assists students who have child-care costs for three or more children. Child-care costs for your first eligible child and second eligible child are included in your assessment of Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loan funding as well as the Canada Study Grant for Students with Dependents.

Employment Ontario – (HRSDC) Human Resources And Social Development Canada :
The Canada Student Loans Program and the Canada Student Grants Program help by providing student financial assistance in the form of loans and grants to Canadians attending post-secondary education in most provinces and territories.

Workplace Safety & Insurance Board :
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) promotes workplace health and safety, and provides a workers compensation system for the employers and workers of Ontario.
